Looking for a challenge – and a chance to make a difference?
Crosby Housing Association has recently signed up to Positively Governing North-West. A programme run by The Connectives which is designed to help people with different experiences and perspectives who would like to take up non-exec positions on Boards or Committees through a mix of workshops and mentoring.
The programme is free to those offered a place.
What we are looking for?
Are you great at:
- Working with others to solve problems
- Spotting opportunities and risks
- Asking the questions that help people make better decisions - like 'so what' or 'what if?'
Are you able to:
- Hold and offer opinions that might be different from others
- Influence others – with those you serve in mind and - if you can’t…
- Still find ways of resolving difference or finding a consensus you can live with
Have you ever wanted to be on a Board
- To serve as a Non-Executive Director, Trustee or Governor
- Because the characteristics above are known to be associated with people who are successful in Board roles.
Do you bring experience:
- That is under-represented in Boardrooms – where those who typically make up a Board don’t look or sound like you
- Perhaps – having faced racism and/or other forms of discrimination – around your age, class, gender, having a disability, of being a member of the LGBTQ+ community – that might lead you to have perspectives that inform your contributions and add to the diversity of a Boardroom
What do you need in order to take up a place
Have you got half a day a month to:
- Invest in learning and development activities over the next year to enable you to become highly effective in such a role
- Undertake a Board role – if you successfully apply for such a role – which might be in a housing association, voluntary or community sector organisation, charity, school, college, social enterprise, or business.
What you should do
If you want to be considered for a place on Positively Governing NW 2023/24 then please let us know, on no more than 2 sides of A4:
- About you - name, age, background, experiences
- Share with us any work, volunteering or community activities you do that show the kind of qualities we outlined in ‘who are we looking for’ section of this note
- Why do you want to be part of this programme?
- What would you like to bring to a board role?
- Do you need any support to help with your learning and development?
